How are you?? Hope September was a great month for you and life is giving you lemonade and not lemons.
We’re settling beautifully into our new office and are absolutely loving the vibrant energy of the Quadrant Mall. From the soulful sounds of buskers and saxophone players, to children laughing around the fountain and visitors enjoying historical tours—there’s a real buzz that reminds us why Launceston Central is such a special place.
And the winner is...
I recently had the pleasure of attending the 25th Mainstreet Conference and Awards in Melbourne on 18 September, and I’m thrilled to share that Launceston Central was awarded Best Street Place Activation for the 2024 Lounge campaign! It was an honour to accept this recognition, and even more special to have my predecessor, Amanda McEvoy, join me on stage to celebrate this achievement. A huge shout-out to Madi, Brea, Briony, and Jade for their incredible work on this project. The 2024 Lounge truly captured the heart of our community during the winter months, and it’s wonderful to see it acknowledged on a national level. We’re deeply grateful to the City of Launceston and our amazing sponsors for their support in bringing this project to life.

In the office we have been super busy, I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such a talented and passionate team at Launceston Central. Their creativity, hard work, and dedication continue to bring exciting activations and events to our city. Well done team👏 Amazing mental gymnastics!!
Join us for these upcoming events
With spring in full bloom, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the new season! Join us for Tags Off_, our spring style showcase at Du Cane Brewing on 15 October from 5:30–7:30pm. 5 of our fantastic local retailers will be showcasing their latest collections, and we’re once again grateful to Sue Rees and her wonderful models for helping make this event shine.
And to keep the momentum going, we’re excited to present Bite-Sized NORTH by Night festival, a celebration of Northern Tasmania’s incredible producers and hospitality scene, running from 16–19 October. Fun fact: We only launched last week and some events are already nearly sold out!
Finally, I hope October brings you plenty of inspiration and connection. Its has been great to collaborate with Business Tasmania, City of Launceston and Launceston Chamber of Commerce for the upcoming workshop Creating Stores Customers Love with the talented Louise Grimmer at Town Hall Launceston on 21 October from 5:30–7:30pm. (see details below). Hope I get to see you there.

'The Lounge' 2024 honoured at Mainstreet Australia Awards
The Lounge, an initiative to transform an unoccupied city shopfront into a vibrant hub for community connection, has been honoured at the Mainstreet Australia Awards, winning ‘Best Main Street Place Activation – Trader Association with Levy (under $100K)’.
Today, City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood, and Gab Dicarlantonio, Launceston Central EO, met with members of the press to reflect on the win and what it means for the City of Launceston to have The Lounge recognised on a national stage. A big thanks is due to the many business sponsors, supporters, and partners behind the scenes who helped bring this project to life and helped Launceston Central to bring it back to the community once again this past winter. Everyone who contributed shares in the honour of this national award.
