Hi everyone,

October was a vibrant month in Launceston! We were thrilled to showcase our spring fashion at the Tags Off_ parade at Du Cane Brewing, and to celebrate our region’s incredible hospitality and produce during the four-day NORTH by Night Festival. With many sold-out events, mouth-watering menus featuring northern Tasmanian producers, and tantalising cocktails, the festival was a huge success. Early reports show that over 75% of attendees visited a new venue—highlighting just how much our amazing city has to offer after dark. A heartfelt thank you to all the businesses who participated and helped bring the festival to life.

We also extend our warmest congratulations to the finalists and winners of the Visit Northern Tasmania Champions of Tourism and the Tasmanian Tourism Awards. We’re especially proud of our Marketing Manager, Charlotte, who was a finalist in the Champions of Tourism—an outstanding achievement!

As we head into the festive season, we know many of you are busy with Christmas orders, extended trading hours, rosters, and planning joyful events. To support your marketing efforts, we’ve included the Launceston Placebrand Asset Library—a fantastic resource created by the City of Launceston to help us all speak with a unified voice. We use it regularly and highly recommend it.

Christmas in the City promises to be magical this year. Decorations will be installed in the coming weeks, and the CBD skyline will sparkle with the winning banners from the City of Launceston’s Deck the Mall competition. And of course, nothing marks the season quite like the Lighting of the Christmas Tree on Saturday, 29th November—a truly special moment for our community.

We have some exciting events and activations planned for the holiday season. Don’t forget to sign up for Light Up Launnie to be part of our festive marketing campaign and help spread the cheer.

Warm regards,

Placebrand LC Newsletter-1

There’s something about this place that’s hard to put into words, but we try anyway. You feel it in the hum of the cafés, in the way strangers say hello, in the mix of history and new ideas that run through the city like our three waterways. It’s what we call the undercurrent, the quiet pulse that connects us.

What is the Launnie Placebrand Library?

The Launnie Placebrand Library was created by the City of Launceston to help local businesses, makers and storytellers tap into our shared story. Inside, you’ll find free photography, messaging and design tools that capture what it means to live, work and create here. It’s not about logos or slogans, it’s about consistency, warmth and authenticity in the way we talk about Launceston.

Use the library assets to promote your local business

Whether you’re posting on social media, creating a menu, or promoting an event, the library helps us all speak in the same voice, proud of where we are and of the people who make it what it is. See the link below to search the asset library and register to begin utilising this valuable resource.
